Job Summary:

The Project Manager Guizhou’s primary responsibility will be to manage the support for the recruitment and delivery of the University of Lincoln’s International Tourism Management programme being delivered in collaboration with Guizhou University. This programme is envisaged in the first instance to last until at least 2028.

The Project Manager will work closely with key stake holders in Guizhou University as well as academics from the University’s International Office the University of Lincoln’s International Business School.

The post holder will be responsible for assisting Guizhou University to recruit high school students onto this Programme, actively arranging a range of promotion activities to promote University of Lincoln (UOL) to current joint programme students and to the rest of students at Guizhou University to maximise the recruitment opportunity for University of Lincoln.

The post holder will also be liaising with Guizhou University to ensure the smooth delivery of the programme on site in Guiyang. This will involve ensuring that staff arriving from the UK can operate effectively at Guizhou University.

The post holder will also have opportunities to contribute to other aspects of the University’s work in China, such as supporting local agents’ network and partnership development.

The post holder will be required to have budget experience.

Note: This role will require travel within Mainland China, as well as occasional travel to the UK.

Key Responsibilities

1. Undertake recruitment activities in China, including attendance at exhibitions and schools with a focus on the recruitment of students to the International Tourism Management joint programme.

2. Supporting the regional office in China in key recruitment period to attend fairs and exhibition when required.

3. Working in conjunction with Lincoln International Business School to develop a plan for summer school for the joint programme students.

4. Coordinate the arrangements for visiting academics from the University of Lincoln to Guizhou University. This will involve liaising with the academic programme. leaders from Guizhou University and the University of Lincoln to coordinate the movement of staff and students who are engaged on the programme. It will mean ensuring that transfers from the airport in Guiyang are arranged and adequate living accommodation is provided for academic staff. Classrooms and the physical teaching arrangements will need to be put in place and teaching materials need to be made available to students

5. Support arrangements for staff - deal with any day to day issues (in coordination with Guizhou University) which may arise as a result of international staff being based at Guizhou University (e.g. food issues, medical needs)

6. Collect appropriate data with respect to student opinion. Ensure that the University of Lincoln is aware of any student feedback and that appropriate actions are in place to respond to this

7. Maintain appropriate records of student achievement - This will be done in coordination with the administration of the University of Lincoln’s Business School and Registry.

8. Market research and insight - Provide advice to the University on developments in the China market so as to inform the University’s China Marketing and Recruitment strategy

9. Marketing and Social Media - support the development of the University of Lincoln’s social media and digital engagement in China, including advice on development of Lincoln’s website, Weibo site, and WeChat account.

10. Communication with applicants - Provide advice and support (e.g. face-to-face, via e-mail and on WeChat) to applicants to the University of Lincoln, especially those who wish to move to the final level of the International Tourism Programme at the University of Lincoln

11. Administration and planning - provide monthly reports of activity and future plans; and maintain good records and engage in Skype training sessions with the Director of International and the Lincoln International Business School

12. General - undertake other activities as required and contribute fully to the work of the University of Lincoln’s’ mission in China



Person specification

Essential

*Educated to Degree standard and Post Graduate qualification in the UK

Desirable

*Experience of working in the higher education sector and / or knowledge of UK higher education

*Good organisational and project management skills

*Budget management experience

*Experience of International student recruitment and support in higher education

*Knowledge of the University of Lincoln or Guizhou University, China as a student and / or in a professional capacity)

Technical

*Excellent bilingual skills in Mandarin Chinese and English (both written and verbal)

*Good IT skills, including experience of using MS Word, MS Excel, and email

*Excellent presentation and communication skills and experience of running events

*Experience of dealing with cultural sensitivity issues requiring tact, diplomacy and a calm approach in difficult situations

*Experience of using social media sites in a professional context

*Experience of developing a range of marketing materials
